It was a real and tired experience being one of the cvns guys. Even thought the work was terrible, working on the night shifts and no good clients, we had a wonderful team of ppl working Rajesh, Abhirami (abhi) for short, then we had Venu madhav, this guy is still following me in my new company, Ravi and a list of guys was working for a single manager Neelagandan Sooriyanarayanan in short Neil.

We really had a good time in Pondi, a 3 day trip at Covansys. Enjoyed to the maximum as we can, lot of fun and lots of party every day even on the island. View a couple of these snaps...

All I remember on the trip were these that touch my heart.
For a single breakfast, we started to walk 3 kms and damm i was hungry and my hunger left.
I wanted to get some DVD's and got 15 DVD old english movies that which i cannot find in Chennai
I wanted to get a case of wine all flavors to taste them for the whole life time and had got only 2 and finished them alone ;)
We were caught by the police and after saying that we work for cvns and neel is our manager, they left us, neel saved our wine and dvd's
Neel and i stayed in a single room sharing for 2 nights
we enjoyed at the island with the beer all day long.
Most of us, spoke about the security of job on the sea shore and the nature of job each one had.
We enjoyed our drink.

In the night shift i remember these things:
We use to watch the whole ibm monitor screen for the whole night looking for a single ticket.
Play games - the same stupid 5 games all round the year.
wait for the lays chips and one bottle of frooti or appy.
make sure you watch clicks 6 to go home
i have also skipped my work few days to sleep in dom, (thatz the cool part you can get in covansys).
Wow, Cvns, has a great Gym, i did workout for some days, but was not regular, since i was using the O2 at the point of time,

Night shifts are real night shifts, you have to slog to get your work done from peers, make sure that the work isn't delayed at any point of time. Its challenging and also rewarding. But for me, it was challenging than rewarding.

Sometimes i took the liberty to give a weeks off to peers just because work was not there in that moment and wanted the peers to work the whole night and day when work isn't there.

In fact, it worked amazing results, Sometimes, when we dint have work the whole night, just use to see who else are working and find out what they were working and also help them.

I dint have a team who played cards like HSBC, i think the whole night could just be playing cards and getting paid ;). Life is much different from the production support what i am my first 6 working friends have done at CSS. That was just amazing, but this is just boo ring or taking your life.

If you work on the Friday your whole Saturday is gone, but you have your Monday that you cant really do anything off.

Most of the time, i wanted to sleep working after a night shift would never happen,
I wouldn't have a good food in the morning in my house.
my wife would be sleeping and i have to do all my work.
When i make up to sleep at 7 or 7:30 or 8:00 in the morning till max 2:00, my daughter 1.5 year old will kill me not to sleep,
She will drag me once she gets up.
I wouldn't have a coffee when i get up
Have to drag on till the day is over and get up to go to office the next day. Life was terrible. I just wanted to skip the night shift and do something wonderful like IBM. But that was all over.

In fact, Covansys merger with CSC wasn't a real big thing, there are other big things like.

Covansys really pays the big guys big.
Covansys has a proven track record of Project Management Professional experience.
Covansys has each PM who is certified as a PMP
Covansys is a 6SBB certified.

They have a wonderful dedicated training division
They have a wonderful dedicated HR division.
They have a wonderful dedicate clients for the past 10 years (after deloitte, i hear this company has relationship with its vendors and clients for more than 10 years) this is really amazing.

Covansys, make sure they treat you well when the project is good. But when you are in a wrong project, you choose HELL.

I still remember me knowing, joining Covansys in this project was a wrong decision and moving from there might had been a good decision. But now, i still find the older to be good, its not bad....

to be working in the night shift getting a decent amount of night shift allowance.
to be working in a project that doesn't require your kind of expertise
to be working with a group who could do what you want.
to be working in a group that loves you
to be working in a stupid project that doesn't require any kind of work to be done.
to be working and speaking to US customers just for some stupid wrong clicks and explain them professionally what has to be done.

Not bad i enjoyed my CVNS days, I stil love them.

LIFE LEARNING LESSONS

--- 361dm META TRAINING ---

I had been a part of the Meta Training, organized by Covansys and conducted by a small company called 361degree (www.361dm.com).

The pricipal facilitator, was Gopi, The coordinator was Ram, and the Guide and book creations were from Ritu.

(In the picture on left, you can find Ram, Ritu and Gopi).

Look at them...

Gopi, Ritu and Ram are batchmates from BITS Pilani, Class of 1991.
